Our Philosophy

Philosophy Created in collaboration with Families, Educators & Children

At Astra Early Learning Narre Warren South, we believe in providing a caring, loving, fun and friendly place for children and families to come to each day.

We acknowledge the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples, and respect that they are the traditional owners of the land, on which Astra Early Learning Educators, families and children, meet, connect and learn on each day. We pay respects to the elders past, present and emerging of the Wurundjeri land and use this respect to appreciate and connect with the land and each other everyday at Astra Early Learning Narre Warren.

Our educator team is passionate, nurturing, and knowledgeable and strive to form strong relationships with the families and the children from day one. Listening and learning from families about who each child is and how they can help them to grow and learn.

We aim to inspire and educate children each day and it is the utmost importance to us to teach and respect the multitude of cultures and backgrounds that make up our Astra Early Learning community.

Our environments are purposeful and are designed to inspire. They are created and changed with an understanding of cultures, particularly that of the Aboriginal and Indigenous culture and aim to incorporate sustainability, natural play and a space where children’s learning is supported, and the children feel as though they have a friend and guiding light within each of the environments. The Reggio Emilia philosophy inspires us and environments and we recognize that the children’s environment acts as the third teacher and guides and supports our practices and experience.

The children at Astra Early Learning Narre Warren South are respected and made to feel a sense of belonging and the ability to have fun, explore and have their identity recognised amongst educators, other families and peers.

The families are welcomed each morning with a smile. We understand that family members are a child’s first teacher and recognize and respect their styles and practices as parents and use what they know about their child, their interests, and learnings styles to better inform our programs, practices and environments.

We welcome all families, educators, members of the community and children with all capabilities, abilities, learning styles, cultures, backgrounds and family dynamics at Astra Early Learning Narre Warren South.
